Andrew and Robin Mackay

Born in Cumbria we moved back to the Lake District in September 2013 to realise our dream of running a smallholding in the most beautiful part of the country. After renovating the farmhouse and outbuildings the land was next and livestock was added over the next couple of years. Our aim now is to become as self-sufficient as possible in produce and sell any excess. The introduction of two holiday cottages and ancilliary accommodation in a Shepherd's Hut has allowed us to share our passion for this area of the South Lakes with visitors.

We make sure that all our animals are reared in a natural and caring environment where freedom to exhibit their natural behaviour is positively encouraged. We recently had a Carbon Survey carried out and we were pleased to discover that we are carbon negative-a great result.

Clearly the hills surrounding our home are inviting and we enjoy the variety and freedom to walk and cycle in both the lower valley and the uplands. The Duddon Valley is blessed with a close knit community which revolves around the Newfield Inn, local WI group and the bi-monthly Music Nights in the Browfoot Rooms in Ulpha. Two active churches complete the scene creating the idyllic Lakeland valley - especially at Christmas.

It is a pleasure to welcome visitors to our farm.

We feel especially privileged to live and work in the Lake District's most beautiful corner.
