HIGH HURST FARM
AND
HOLIDAY COTTAGES

We are Andrew and Robin MacKay and we run High Hurst Farm and Holiday Cottages in the heart of the South Lake District as a self-sufficient smallholding, with two holiday cottages and a Shepherd's Hut which enables other people to visit and enjoy this wonderful area.

The smallholding provides us with food from our fruit and vegetable gardens which consists of both open and enclosed beds, our hens give us very tasty free range eggs, our Ryeland sheep and our Devon and Cornwall Longwool sheep give us cuddles, our goats are incredibly interactive giving us cuddles and incredibly tasty fresh milk and our Pedigree Registered Berkshire pigs, Elvis, Bramble, Poppy, Evie and Rosie and all their piglets definitely keep us on our toes. 

We breed our pedigree registered pigs and pedigree registered Devon and Cornwall sheep primarily to assist with the conservation of these wonderful heritage breeds.

Every year we have lambs from our sheep, kids from our goats, piglets from our pigs and chicks from our poultry. 

It is an amazing, fun and entertaining experience when new life makes an appearance on the holding and we are very "hands on" in the care of our animals. We make sure we are there to help to give every new arrival into the world the best start in life, no matter what time it is, day or night. They are all the most adorable little bundles and so worth the extra effort, love and hard work we put into making their lives as natural and fun as possible.
